Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare has helped millions of people gain access to affordable healthcare when it was enacted. There is still lots of work that needs to be done with it as we know it. The exchange is still hard to work, prices have increased and become unaffordable. Under President Trump's administration they have decreased the funding for it which is another reason for the rates have going up. Also under Trump they have tried to repeal Obamacare, but have nothing to replace it with. The ACA is once again on the cutting block come November after the elections. I can agree the that it needs to be repealed but before you can repeal it you need something that is going to be even better to replace it. Senator Sanders has proposed Medicare for All but it has been shut down on several occasions as well. The Republicans just don't want to replace all they care about is just repealing it and not having anything to replace it.

Not only did it (Obamacare) expand healthcare and prevent discrimination, it also expanded Medicaid and the services Medicaid provides was expended for adults. I know for a fact that before the ACA I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford it nor was I eligible for Medicaid. Since then I have become eligible for Medicaid ACA Adults I have been able to seek medical and dental. I have suffered and still do with mental illness of bipolar type 1. Without the insurance I wouldn't be able to get my needed medications to treat my disorder as my medications cost over $3000.00 per month. I have heard people say that I am living off of welfare but I'm not. I can't get a job that offers insurance and insurance is still expensive and the deductibles are high. I know of someone that owns their own business and has one employee and pays over $13000.00 per year for health insurance. This is ridiculous, that why we need Medicare for All.
