When it comes to moving equality forward Donald J. Trump is the worst candidate possible on the face of the earth. He has done said he would repeal same-sex marriage his first in in the Oval Office as well as ACA also known as ObamaCare. If anyone has a fighting chance at being in office and making a real change it would be Hilary Clinton. I did have thoughts on Bernie Sanders, but with his ailing age, and chronic health issues, and this stress the office puts on you I don’t believe he would survive his first term of office and his predecessor would have to take over and that could be a tabernacle of a scene so call it one. So my overall opinion for a condidate would definitely have to be the Democratic Hilary Clinton!
Homophobia is still one phobia that is vastly looked upon. Homophobics are still trying to state the homosexuality is still a choice of the human race. I can attest from my point of being a homosexual that it is not a choice.
Then there is another thing that gets on my nerves. People who say they don’t care that you are gay, bi, trans, etc. But yet they don’t approve of same-sex marriage. They tell me they have no homophobic characterics in their body, but yet I’m my opinion they do when they object to samesex marriage.
I can say that we have come a long way in getting equal rights and treatments in our country and other countries worldwide. The fight isn’t over yet. In fact it has just begun. We still have a long way to go to make sure everyone has the same equal rights as the heterosexuals (opposite sex relationships) do.
There has been one movie/documentary that I have enjoyed since its release and shared and talked about on many occasions with family & friends, and it’s “Bridegroom“. If you still haven’t seen it, make sure to check it out on Netflix, and other streaming services worldwide.
It is a complete shame that many families discriminate against their family members for being who they are, gay. It shouldn’t matter who you love. Love is Love. I know that I do have to deal with this form of discrimination with my family and distant family members. The only ones in my family that I know of that supports equality is my mother, brother Lawrence, sister-in-law Tonya. My other brothers and distant family members don’t approve of equality. They don’t believe that same-sex couples deserve the right to marry and they won’t acknowledge it.
My eldest niece that I have nothing to do with, is gay. Her parents don’t approve of her being gay and believe that it is a lifestyle choice of being gay. They have had enough nerve to blame me for making her gay. Well I can say that I had nothing to do with that. You’re either gay or your not, its not a choice. It’s hardwired into you. It shouldn’t matter who it is that you love. As long as your happy thats all that matters and thats all that should matter. I don’t understand on why people want to discriminate against the LGBT community. Discrimination was supposedly a thing of the past, but apparently it isn’t.
I can say that I am very thankful for the #SCOTUS ruling, declaring that refusing same-sex individuals the right to marry is unconstitutional and all clerks are to start issuing marriage licenses immediately. When this ruling came out, I was ecstatic and filled with joy and happiness. Everyone is allowed to marry every where in the United States. Thank you #SCOTUS but I don’t think this will be the last time you have any cases before you involving LGBT specifically around this case you just ruled on.
With the recent #SCOTUS ruling, Marriage Equality is now the law of the land across the United States. United States of America has made tremendous history that will go down in the history books. Their are still bigots over the #MarriageEquality. With me being a part of the LGBT community I can not understand why people would want to discriminate against the LGBT community. We are all created equal. We were created by the holy spirit to be who we want to be. The bible says that we should not judge nor discriminate against others, but the hypocritical religious freaks apparently don’t want to support that part of the bible but they are so-called faithful believers of our heavenly father. If they were such faithful believers, they wouldn’t be discriminating against anyone. Sexual Orientation shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of. This is the 21st Century. God created us to be who we are. If god didn’t want “gays” he wouldn’t have created them. People believe that being gay is a “Life Choice”, in which it isn’t a life choice. Being gay isn’t a choice! Love is who you love unconditionally no matter what their sex is. People want this country and world to stay as it was before, discriminatory. I do not believe in discriminating against anyone no matter what their, sex, religion, race, or orientation. You are not to judge others as god will judge you and is the only one allowed to judge you. Being equal is a Human Right and shouldn’t be only allowed to certain pertinent groups. Human Rights are for everyone. Yes, I have members in my family that believe that Marriage should be between one man and one woman. That is so discriminatory and is stripping people of their rights of being a human being. I thank the #SCOTUS for this tremendous ruling. But this isn’t the only thing that is still going. There is still a long haul for the LGBT community. Now it is not a Same-Sex Marriage, it is a Marriage! Marriage is defined as someone you marry and love and want to be with the rest of your lives.
Update: The United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC has declared Marriage Equality across the nation. Today is a day to go down in the history books. States will now have to recognize same-sex marriages that were performed anywhere in the United States and will have to issue the licenses as well. Todays vote was a 5-4 vote in the Obergefell v. Hodges. Companies across the Nation are rejoicing the the decision as well, including American Air, Target, etc., & Tim Cook.
To View the #SCOTUS Ruling you can see it here.
The US Supreme Court has added a non-argument day to their calendar for Thursday June 18, 2015 at 10:00am. This event was added to deliver the opinions on matters that have been argued in the Court. This in my opinion could be the delivery of the Marriage Equality across the states.
On April 28, 2015 the court heard the oral arguments in the cases of Obergefell v. Hodges 14-556-Question-1 & Obergefell v. Hodges 14-556-Question-2. So come this day we will know (hopefully) the opinion of the US Supreme Court on these cases.
I hold these cases and all other Marriage Equality Cases dear to my heart. Not just because I am part of the LGBT Community, but as well as I was brought up that if someone has a right to do something then everyone should have the same equal right as well. All persons should have the same equal rights whether it be marriage to equal pay.
Well it is June 2015, and a ruling is expected from the Supreme Court Justices on the matter of Marriage Equality across the border. They will decide if all states should allow same-sex marriages and recognize them or not. I can say that I will be watching and waiting for the ruling on this matter as it is an important matter that needs to be taken and since no one wants to take action on it, the U.S. Supreme court should as some states refuse to even recognize the marriage from another state as it is banned in their state. I believe that everyone should have the same equal rights and opportunities. This country is supposed to be a free and welcoming country and so far it isn’t showing it. With this ruling it will finally allow same-sex marriage in all 50 states. It is already legal in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The ruling is expected to come at the end of the month. So I will be watching and waiting for this long waited for ruling.
Here’s to EQUALITY!!!!!!
I have to say that there is a lot of talk going around worldwide, that everyone don’t deserve to have the same rights as others. This post is specifically related to the LGBTQ community. As a member of this community, I believe that everyone no matter their race, religion, net worth, sexual orientation, or anything, they should be entitled to the same benefits to the same benefits as everyone else has. This is the 21st Century and people need to come to realize that we’re not back in the Stone Age. If a heterosexual has one right then an LGBTQ person should have that same right. These aren’t privileges. These are rights. In my personal opinion, the most oppressive people that are against these fundamental rights are the conservative right wing republicans. Yes, I am a devote Democrat, but there are things that I do not believe in that the democrats have done and accomplished. Yes, I know I will probably get some backlash from the public as well as my family members (distant) about my views on this matter, but it doesn’t matter to me as these are my opinions and they are correct opinions that are rights. If you are gay, lesbian, Transgender, Questioning, or even Straight, You should have the same exact rights as each other. Love is love. I’m not going to get into religion as far as I’m concerned that has no meaning or question in this matter. Because if it did, everyone in this world has sinned and will be damned to hell.
I want you to ask yourself as a parent, if your son/daughter was gay? Would you still love them and accept them? More than likely you would. You would also be out there fighting for their rights then. Your opinion would completely change if that happened. You would be supportive in every way you could be. Yes it would be hard at first to comprehend and understand and ask why? You at times will ask yourself if you done something wrong to make this happen? You haven’t done anything wrong. You are either gay or you’re not. You cannot change someone’s orientation. You cannot convert someone to be straight or gay, they just either are.
I believe that if you love someone enough and want to be with them rest of your life, you should be able to marry them and show your love. Hetero’s have that right to do that, so why can’t anyone that is LGBTQ. They love just like anyone else. They’re not any more different than a straight person. They love a person as well. People are not test animals which should be put on a “clinical trial” to see if this will work. Many states and countries have already proven and showed that. We as a Free Nation need to show more equality. There are countries that are exterminating gays and that isn’t fair either to them.
There are many organizations nationally that I support, yet I wish I could financially because I would. Some of these organizations include the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), The NoH8 Campaign, Equality Illinois. These organizations are simply amazing. I also support The Trevor Project, GLAAD that help the LGBTQ teens and young adults.
I recently watched a movie on OWN (when if very first debuted) Entitled Bridegroom which is now available to stream on Netflix. This is a very touching documentary on the life of two gay males that in love with each other and the one’s life was ended due to a freak accident. This movie has moved so many people and has changed so many people’s opinions on this matter. By far to date, this is the best documentary that I have ever watched and I don’t watch too many documentaries as I find most of them boring. After watching it, I seen that Oprah had an encore of it, and I re-watched it with my amazing mother and she also enjoyed it as well. It is very emotional and tear jerking. If you haven’t seen it, I suggest you to watch it, and not just because I want you change your opinions on this matter. I want you to see the love in this relationship and the horrible and horrendous acts that happened. Bridegroom is such a moving movie, that I still watch it from time to time on Netflix, either when I can’t find anything interesting on TV to watch or anything else on Netflix that looks good, or when I’m traveling. Another great movie to watch is “The Bully Project“. These two movies are so inspiring.
