Champaign-Urbana Pride

Well yesterday I was able to attend Champaign-Urbana’s pride celebration and a couple LGBT panels, which one was sponsorored by Equality Illinois. The panel was very insightful into what they do for us and how they lobby to get policy and laws changed and created so that we don’t have to have any fear. After attending the panels I was able to attend and watch the Pride Parade. One of the things that I learned and didn’t know about was the panic defense against gays. Where someone can potentially getting a lessor sentence or lessor charge by claiming that they were provoked by a gay/lesbian.

There was so many entries in the pride parade. One of the amazing things I saw in the parade and didn’t know they supported LGBT community was Wal-Mart & Sam’s Club as they had a float in the parade. I always thought that they supported the community but never really saw it. The reason I point this out is because when I went to the Chicago Pride, which is a big national parade, Wal-Mart wasn’t in it.

Then I got to see the amazing T-Mobile car sitting in the lot and it was cool.

But I couldn’t have been able to attend this pride nor Chicago’s pride, without an amazing friend Dale. I know that if I’m having mental problems that I have someone else in my corner to talk to if I need it. So thanks Dale for the amazing opportunities you have shown me and continue to do so.

Boy George and the Culture Club

Well I can say that this was an experience of my lifetime. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening with two amazing friends. I was able to see Boy George & and the Culture Club, B52s, and The Thompson Twins- Tom Bailey.

What made it even better was having the thunderstorms and getting soaked from it all as we didn’t bring any umbrellas or ponchos and he gift shop was sold out when we went in and then Charles goes back in and they bring out more ponchos and got us all a poncho so we could dry off.

While drying off we were able to get closer to the pavilion and see Boy George up close (atleast on the video screen). This evening had been one of a kind and the best.

Pride 2018

Well I recently went to Pride for the first time in my life to celebrate LGBT history and events. Chicago Pride has always been on my bucket list, and let me tell ya it surpassed my expectations that I have had. It was simply the best parade that I have ever attended. All the parades that I have been to are pretty mediocre compared to the Chicago Pride Parade they have had annually for 49 years now. I can not wait until next year for their 50th parade celebration.

Democrats & LGBT

Below is DNC‘s platform on LGBT which is something that I care about as a member of the LGBT community and proud supporter of LGBT rights.

“Democrats believe that LGBT rights are human rights and that American foreign policy should advance the ability of all persons to live with dignity, security, and respect, regardless of who they are or who they love. We applaud President Obama’s historic Presidential Memorandum on International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Persons, which combats criminalization, protects refugees, and provides foreign assistance. We will continue to stand with LGBT people around the world, including fighting efforts by any nation to infringe on LGBT rights or ignore abuse.”

President Trump publicly admitted via his personal Twitter account (@realDonaldTrump) that he would protect and fight for the LGBT community against Hillary Clinton.

As you have noticed in the “fake” news that Mr. Trump has explicitly reversed exactly what he said he would. He had instituted a ban on Transgendered persons serving in the US Military going against the leading Generals of the Military. He has trampled all over the LGBT community nationwide as well as worldwide.

When researching the GOP Republicans platform, they have no mention of support towards the rights of LGBT. This is party that is only for one specific person/group, THE WEALTHY.

We must all come together and support each other by voting candidates that will support everyone and not just the wealthy. We can not let the Republicans and Mr. Trump ruin our country.

Proud Democrat

I can say that I am a PROUD Democrat living in a Republican ran county. I support the Iroquois County Democrats. The Democratic Party is there for The People.

While the country is in a state of mess with the Republican Commander-in-Chief and Republican led Congress, we must come together with our differences and elect our rightful officials that will stand up for us when no one will. As you see in the news and social media on the daily, our Republican ran country is ruining our country what it was founded in. We (Democrats) are the change.

Currently the primary election is right before us. We as Americans have the duty to vote and elect the rightful candidates to serve and protect us ALL.

Currently Iroquois County Democrats is hosting an event New Day/New New Day at Town & Country Events in Milford. You can get tickets online at their website or by messaging Iroquois Democrats on Facebook.

Come meet our MC Colleen Callahan and Keynote Speaker State Treasurer Michael Frerichs.

I have also signed up to support our Democratic candidate Chris Kennedy for Governor.

We will turn Illinois and Iroquois County Blue again.

Equality 2017

With the current president and vice president that we have curently our rights and equality are under attack and will remain under attack until they have taken away our rights that have been afforded to us by the US Supreme Court. When President Trump was running his campaign for President he promised that he would continue to fight and protect all LGBTQs and since then he has turned his back on us. We as a community must stand together and continue our fight as we have for decades as this fight will never be over especially with the conservative republicans that are controlling the government right now.

I will continue to stand and show support for my community where I live and the conservatives that I’m not afraid of them.

Pride 2017

I can say that this year I won’t be attending Pride 2017 in Chicago like I had plans on doing as it was something that I wanted to do this year. But it’s ok, I am going to go to Champaign-Urbana and go to their Pride celebration and it will be the first time of me going to Pride in Champaign-Urbana during September. I am looking forward to seeing what Champaign-Urbana has to offer for Pride for events as this will be something new and exciting for me to go to this year and am looking forward to going and enjoying myself.

I am going to take a couple of my friends with me so that I’m not going alone as this is something new for me as when I go somewhere new or an event that is new to me, I always go with a friend or a few friends. Although I would much rather go to a much bigger Pride celebration, but one can’t complain as I will be celebrating amongst others in the same thing.

So here’s to Pride 2017 and what it all has to offer.
